Capital is Abu Dhabi (with vending machine with gold, seriously, look), but you have definitely heard ybout the largest city - Dubai (yeah, the one with artificail islands in shape of palms and the huge hotel. Emirates oil reserves are ranked as the seventh-largest in the world. Homosexual relationships are illegal, in criminal matters a woman's testimony is worth half of that of a man before a court and wife beating is not illegal, as long as it leaves no physical marks on the victim. During the month of Ramadan, between sunrise and sunset, it is illegal to publicly eat, drink (even water), or smoke. Exceptions are made for pregnant or nursing women, as well as children. This applies to non-Muslims as well as Muslims, and failure to comply may result in arrest.
